

People are often victims of their moods. Moods almost decide the quality of life experiences. More than the external environments, your internal moods determine whether you will be happy or sad, elated or dejected during the day. But how to control moods?

What are moods?
Moods are the temporary state of mind where you are feeling good or bad. You have emotions that are positive or negative and your actions are either helpful or resentful. Anyone functioning on their minds will be a victim of moods. The uncontrolled mind will be susceptible to moods. Mostly bad moods.
Are mood swings normal?
Yes. Mild mood changes from time to time are normal, but when mood swings are severe and negatively interfere with your daily life and relationships, they may signify a more serious problem that requires help from a mental health professional.
Triggers for becoming moody
The environment you inhabit can be a trigger for your moods. The weather conditions, traffic jams, and elevators not functioning are some examples of the environment playing a role in your moods.
Your Past experiences in life, good or bad have an impact on the moods you allow to adopt in your daily life. Past experiences concerning your relationships have a major impact on moods. If you have a breakup or you have lost a partner, the moods you are subject to may continue for a long period.
Your financial problems influence your moods. Not being able to afford what you’re fond of having or having to let go of some of your prized possessions due to financial setbacks puts you in a bad mood.
Physical health is a major reason for many to be in a negative mood. You had good health and for some reason, you have lost that health, and not being able to recover to your healthy days will have an immense impact on your moods. For reasons beyond your control put you in illness, if you are not in proper health, your inability to perform your favorite activities creates mood swings.
Mental weakness means you’re a helpless victim of your mind. You become a slave to your mind. The mind dictates what mood you should experience in the present moment. Mood swings are maximum when you surrender your choices to your mind. It can lead to dangerous situations for you and all those associated with you.
Intellectual ignorance is a result of not utilizing your intellect in making decisions and not being in the process of continuous improvement.
Spiritual abandonment is a state you experience when you lack basic values of life and are fanatical regarding religious beliefs, customs, and rituals. When you’re closed-minded, you allow others to make choices for you and are sold on their views and ideologies. Rigidity in opinions and judgments causes havoc to your mind and you could sustain negative and destructive mood swings.
Reasons for bad moods
Your extroverted thinking, and dependency on the world for your pleasures, well-being, and safety make you a victim of moods. You always blame the world and remain in a bad mood, which eventually destroys you. Bad moods are the extreme expression of non-acceptance. NA will lead to more frustrations & disruptions.
Suggestions for good moods
Turn introvert, have a good satsang meaning company of good people and progressive environments, and commit to a continuous process of self-enrichment. Becoming moody is easy but to be beyond moods, you need to be an introverted seeker. Commitment to your peace and well-being. Quality of life depends upon quality of attitude and management of moods.
Beat bad moods
Attitude is the cause, and the effect is your mood. Attitude is internal, the effect of your thinking, and moods are external, seen evidently in your actions. You improve your mood when you improve your attitude.
Attitude is the result of how you use your mind and intellect. “Without improving anything externally, with a slight improvement in the way you think, feel, and act, everything in your life changes.” You are in a good mood due to the right attitude. A bad attitude results in bad moods and behavior. A good attitude results in noble habits and refined cultured behavior. Without improving your attitude, you can’t control your moods. Moods can make your mind violent, and your mind can destroy you.
