Distinguished dignitaries, members of royalty, high-net-worth individuals, and celebrities convened for the 9th Edition of the Climate Change Forum (CC Forum) themed “Investment in Sustainable Development” with Chic Icon as the Official Media Partner. This eagerly awaited event unfolded on December 6-7, 2023, at Dubai’s opulent Al Habtoor Palace, coinciding with the UN’s COP28 conference.
Following the triumphs of previous CC Forum editions across global locales, including London, the Kingdom of Bahrain under HRH Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa’s Patronage, Cote-d-Azur, Dubai, Monaco under HSH Prince Albert II’s High Patronage, and London with Royal greeting from HM Queen Elizabeth II, this gathering, often dubbed the “green Davos,” brought together major global investment players, family offices, venture capital firms, ultra-high-net-worth individuals (UHNWs), senior government officials, and celebrities.
CC Forum delved into critical issues such as Climate Change, Government Strategies, Clean Energy, Impact Investment, Preservation of the Oceans, Emerging Technologies, Finance and Fintech, Healthcare and Education, Women Empowerment, Philanthropy, and Social Inclusion. The agenda encompassed discussions on the convergence of policymakers and private capital in combating the climate change crisis, investment-based solutions for ocean plastic emergencies and rainforest preservation, women’s empowerment, and sustainable investments in Africa.
Distinguished speakers included HRH Sheikh Tahnoon bin Saeed bin Tahnoon Al Nahyan, represented by H.E. Zulfiquar Ghadiyali, President of Palau Hon. Surangel Whipps Jr, Vice-President of Liberia Jewel Howard Taylor, Hon. Dr. Salisu Dahiru, Director General of Climate Change Council of Nigeria, Hon. Colin Znovu, Minister of Environment and Green Economy of Zambia, and more.
Noteworthy announcements ranged from the launch of a 100 emission-zero ships initiative led by Gunter Pauli, author of Blue Economy, to the creation of a new $10 billion green investment fund.
Previous CC Forum participants featured illustrious personalities like HSH Prince Albert II of Monaco, Ban Ki Moon, Dame Jane Goodall, Stanley Johnson, Placido Domingo, Nouriel Roubini, Tim Draper, HSH Princess Charlene of Monaco, HSH Prince Michael of Liechtenstein, Gunter Pauli, Michael Flatley, and Julian Lennon, among others.
The Dubai iteration promised a vibrant networking and cultural program, culminating in CC Forum’s traditional VVIP Investors’ Gala Dinner & Awards Giving Ceremony, graced by heads of state, royal members, and international celebrities. The Gala showcased eco-documentaries and bestowed awards upon H.E. Bola Tinubu, President of Nigeria, and Naomi Campbell, British Supermodel, Actress, Advocate, and Philanthropist. The event featured performances by a 15-year-old violin prodigy Richard Kollert and ultra-soprano Emily Thorner, accompanied by the Middle East orchestra.
Supported by various conglomerates, including Honeylight, Nexus, Silva Terra, DevvStream, Grace Generation Group, Global Network of Doctors and Nurses, Gurung Family Conglomerate, and Aya, CC Forum’s Dubai chapter left an indelible mark on the global discourse surrounding sustainable development.
