Mykonos, an island renowned for its vibrant nightlife, stunning beaches, and rich history, has recently welcomed a new jewel in its luxury hospitality crown: Deos. Nestled on a hilltop above the charming town of Mykonos, Deos is the latest addition to the illustrious Myconian Collection, promising unparalleled comfort, breathtaking views, and a seamless blend of traditional Cycladic design and contemporary elegance.
The Allure of Mykonos
Mykonos is a destination that captures the essence of the Greek islands. Known for its whitewashed buildings, winding cobblestone streets, and iconic 16th-century windmills, the island offers a perfect blend of ancient history and modern sophistication. Visitors can explore the historic Delos, a UNESCO World Heritage site, enjoy vibrant nightlife, or simply relax on one of the many beautiful beaches. The island’s ability to cater to both the party-goers and those seeking tranquility makes it a unique spot in the Aegean.
Location and Views
Perched above the bustling town, we enjoy an enviable location at Deos Mykonos Hotel, offering panoramic vistas of the Aegean Sea, the neighboring islands of Delos, Syros, and Tinos, and the picturesque windmills of the old harbor. A short five-minute walk down scenic steps brings us directly to the heart of Mykonos town, where the vibrant street life of Chora awaits. Despite its proximity to the action, Deos feels like my serene retreat, offering the best of both worlds.
The views from Deos are nothing short of spectacular. Each angle offers a new perspective of the island’s beauty, from the golden sunsets over the Aegean to the twinkling lights of Mykonos town at night. Whether from the comfort of our private terrace or the hotel’s elegant pool area, the vistas at Deos are a feast for the eyes.
Design and Architecture
Designed by the renowned GM Architects, Deos is a masterpiece of contemporary Cycladic architecture. The hotel seamlessly merges indoor and outdoor spaces, creating a flow that enhances the natural beauty of its surroundings. The rustic walls, crafted from locally quarried rocks, and the generous planting of indigenous flora give the hotel a sense of place and authenticity.
The interiors at DEOS exude warm minimalism, with natural textures and custom materials telling the story of artisanal craftsmanship. The design is both elegant and understated, focusing on creating a tranquil and luxurious environment. Each detail, from the marble bathrooms to the handcrafted furnishings, has been thoughtfully chosen to provide the utmost comfort and sophistication.
Accommodation
The property has different options when it comes to luxury accommodation. From spacious rooms with a private jacuzzi or a pool to private residences where you feel at home. Spacious marble bathrooms are discreetly separated from the elegant living areas, which open onto large, furnished, and landscaped terraces. These pergola-shaded terraces, with either a pool or jacuzzi, are a signature feature of Deos.
During our stay, we had the pleasure of experiencing the Delta Room with a large private jacuzzi and the best panoramic views of the Mykonos city and sunset. This luxurious space features interiors of 70 square meters with a spacious terrace. The design is characterized by a warm minimalism and sophisticated custom touches, creating a serene and inviting atmosphere.
The semi-open marble bathroom is a sanctuary in itself, with a deep soak tub, double vanities, and natural light filtering through discreet screens. The living area opens onto a fully furnished, landscaped terrace of 70 square meters, complete with a private jacuzzi. Here, the real magic of Deos unfolds. Sunset drinks by the jacuzzi, followed by a romantic dinner on our terrace under the stars, make for unforgettable moments.
For those seeking different accommodations, Deos Mykonos Hotel offers a range of luxurious options, each with its own unique charm. The Omega Residence features a private pool and accommodation for 5 pax, while the Gamma One Bedroom Suite offers expansive views and refined luxury.
Spa and Wellness: The Sana Spa
Deos’ commitment to wellness is epitomized by the Sana Spa, a true sanctuary of relaxation and rejuvenation. The spa features a beautiful marble indoor pool and a relaxation area bathed in gentle sunlight filtered by lush vegetation. This tranquil environment invites guests to unwind and detox, with amenities including a sauna, steam room, and luxurious therapy suites.
For those who wish to maintain their fitness routines, Deos offers a state-of-the-art gym with high ceilings and natural airflow. Guests can participate in Pilates and yoga classes, either in groups or through private sessions. Unique experiences such as full-moon yoga on Delos or sunset practices on the desert island of Rhenia connect guests to the unique energies surrounding Deos.
Culinary Delights: Epico Restaurant
No luxury hotel experience is complete without exceptional dining, and Deos delivers this through its signature restaurant, Epico. The restaurant celebrates Greek culinary culture with a menu that highlights homegrown ingredients and seasonal produce by executive chef Ilias Maslaris. With years of experience in a Relais & Chateaux kitchen, Chef Maslaris brings a creative take on traditional Greek cuisine, using only the finest farm-to-table ingredients and fresh catches of the day. His philosophy shines through in the seasonal specials and the weekly 8-course degustation at the chef’s table.
We like to start the day with sumptuous breakfasts and enjoy light poolside lunches on the scenic deck. As the day transitions into evening, Epico transforms into one of the island’s most enchanting night spots. The terrace bar, with its convivial low seating and magnificent views, is perfect for a pre-dinner aperitif.
In the competitive landscape of Mykonos hospitality, Deos stands out as a beacon of refined luxury and authentic Greek charm. It is a place where every detail is designed to enhance the guest experience, making it a must-visit destination for discerning travelers. If Mykonos is the jewel of the Aegean, then Deos Mykonos Hotel is surely its crowning glory with the best panoramic views.
