Monaco has, in recent years, introduced several art festivals held between March and July. This has helped Monaco become a fixture on the international art scene. Monaco Art Week was born out of a desire to bring together the cultural institutions of Monaco by organizing events to highlight the Principality’s art scene.
The association was born in the spring of 2018 during MAW’s artistic journey through galleries and auction houses scattered throughout the Principality – Condamine, Monte Carlo, and Larvotto. This format facilitates access to exhibitions, encouraging everyone to explore the cultural landscape of Monaco while complementing the particularly dense cultural offer at this time.
Monaco galleries are actively joining forces to present a series of exhibitions and artistic events at their respective venues. A forum for synergies and exchanges, these cultural meetings are an opportunity to showcase the artistic and creative talent that resides within Monaco. Specialists in ancient, modern, and contemporary art, the originality of Monaco Art Week lies in the dialogue and resonance between different artistic genres over almost five centuries.
From 12th to 17th July around 15 galleries will participate, including Artcurial, G&M Design Gallery, Galerie Grippaldi, Musée Collection des Arts, Les Galeries Bartoux, Kamil Art Gallery, M.F. Toninelli Art Moderne, Monaco Modern Art, Moretti Fine Art, NM>Contemporary, Sotheby’s, Wannenes Art Contact. A feature of Monaco Art Week is the coverage of all periods of art history. Indeed, auction houses and galleries of antique, modern, or contemporary art have coalesced around one criterion: quality. Each participant prepares a new exhibition for the event to highlight their field and their disciplines, their artists, and their history.
The originality of the Monaco Art Week route lies in the dialogue and resonance between different periods of art: classical, modern, and contemporary.
Chic Icon will proudly take part in Monaco Art Week as an informational partner and invites all connoisseurs of real art to join the event. We met the Vice-President of Monaco Art Week Mr. Fabrizio Moretti to get to know more about the coming event.
