Dubai has recently emerged as a center of contemporary art in the world, thanks to the opening of several innovative art spaces that showcase the works of artists from all over the world. One such creative space that has recently opened its doors to art enthusiasts is the Markofken Art Space, which had its grand opening on the 16th of March in JLT, Dubai. The event was supported by Chic Icon as a media partner and attended by over 200 guests, including the CEO Office of Sheikh Majid Rashid Al Mualla and the President of Rotary Palm of Dubai Mr. Adonis Kanaan.
The highlight of the evening was a charity auction organized by the Rotary Club, which raised funds for earthquake victims in Turkey and Syria. With Chic Icon as the official media partner, the auction featured several artworks presented at the exhibition, including the work of a young artist Sofia Kuprina, who is just 11 years old. Sofia’s painting was an instant success and was one of the most popular lots of the auction. The proceeds from the auction will be donated to the Rotary Charity Club to support the earthquake victims in Turkey and Syria.
The grand opening of the Markofken Art Space also featured a closed preview of the international exhibition “The Majority does not exist.” The exhibition showcased the works of famous artists from all over the world, including David Silva (Columbia), Marko Oliver (South Africa), Daria Russkikh (Russia), Natalia Gudovich (Russia), and Sergey Markofken (Dubai).
Sergey Markofken, the founder of the Markofken Art Space, is a fashionable artist who performed at the grand opening of the gallery. His performance involved the creation of a huge painting, which was done in protest against the background of constant contradictions occurring due to increasing discrimination of rights of various social groups in recent years. Markofken’s performance was a unique experience for the guests, as it showcased the creative process of painting and brought it to life.
The Markofken Art Space is a unique creative space that not only exhibits but also creates artworks in the process of special performance shows. The gallery also features a special workshop where guests can contemplate the fascinating process of creating works using the Spin Art technique – a contemporary art form that involves spraying paints on canvas using various devices (pendulums, spinners, rotating and swinging objects) as part of the creative process.
Sergey Markofken has previously performed at the international World Art Dubai exhibition and at the exhibition World Expo 2020 Dubai, both of which were great success. His art performances involve pouring paint on canvases and dancers, creating several works in the process that have stirred the audience’s applause.
In addition to showcasing contemporary artworks, the Markofken Art Space also features venues for photo shoots and events. It is a unique creative space that offers a platform for artists to showcase their works and for art enthusiasts to appreciate and learn about contemporary art. In its entirety, the opening of the Markofken Art Space is a testament to Dubai’s emergence as a center of contemporary art in the world. The gallery’s unique approach to showcasing artworks through performance shows and Spin Art technique is a one-of-a-kind experience that sets it apart from other art spaces in the region. The exhibition “The Majority does not exist” and the charity auction organized by the Rotary Club are proof of the gallery’s commitment to promoting contemporary art and giving back to society.
