Did you hear about the biggest ice sports event in Dubai this month? Dubai held its first official ice hockey competition, as well as its first ice skating performance with the media support of Chic Icon. The city had never experienced such a massive event on ice! For the first time, Russia sent its greatest ice hockey and figure skating champions to the UAE for a three-day winter festival. On the 3rd of December, the Dubai Ice Show held an official regular season hockey game between two of Europe’s best teams: the most recent Gagarin Cup champion “Avangard” Omsk and the most decorated KHL club, “Ak Bars” Kazan. On the 4th and 5th of December, there was the amazing ice theater production of “Sleeping Beauty,” starring Olympic figure skating champions Tatyana Navka and Alina Zagitova. The event took place at the Coca Cola Arena and was prepared by almost 1500 specialists and will most definitely be remembered for its spectacular visual effects and decorations.
Following an offer from the League, “Avangard” was delighted to host a game in the UAE and support the initiative. Notably, the event also took place in Dubai on Russia’s official day. It was the ideal occasion for Russian sports to expose themselves to the culture of Dubai, as well as for both nations to create friendships via sports culture. There were many VIP guests in attendance from the Russian government, the Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, KHL President Alexey Morozov, Gazpromneft Regional Sales Director Alexander Krulov, AK Bars President Nail Maganov, Dubai’s Sports Council Secretary General Saeed Hareb, and CEO of Dubai Festival and Retail establishment Ahmed Al Khaja. The positive atmosphere characterized Russian ice hockey.

It is truly a historical moment for the UAE,” a Dubai local mentioned. The Sleeping Beauty show was truly breathtaking. Locals and expats in Dubai had the opportunity to do something altogether different. It included the top Russian ice-skating specialists, who showcased the beauty and pure art of ice skating by including tricks in the most entertaining way imaginable. The audience was enthralled as the story of Sleeping Beauty was brought to life with dazzling dances and vivid costumes. This three-day Dubai Ice Show was great for getting people in the mood for the forthcoming Christmas celebrations.
The Dubai Sports Council was ecstatic about introducing such fresh events to Dubai for the city’s varied citizenry. This gesture significantly demonstrated the Emirate of Dubai’s infrastructure’s diversity and richness, enhancing its potential to host important international events in a variety of sectors and confirming its status as a significant location for major international events in the region. Ice hockey is one of the most popular sports in the world, with millions of followers worldwide, including many in Dubai, and the city was looking forward to three days of high-octane action and fun on the ice this December. The series of events was absolutely unique; it was a fantastic opportunity for families to enjoy an incredible weekend filled with emotions and memories! It was undoubtedly the season’s must-see event!
