Created by two sisters, the brand Marli is based between London and Monaco. The idea behind Marli slip dresses is the combination of a laid-back Riviera chic and a big city cosmopolitan flair. The design itself is made to be simple, handy, but luxurious. It is the right choice for everyday wear or even for big events. The founders believe that Marli slip dresses are ready to be worn by every woman with any body shape “to love yourself.”

Victoria Silvstedt for marli dresses

Recently Marli Dresses collaborated with the model and actress Victoria Silvstedt in their new exclusive collection named the Wild Life Collection; the line includes pieces such as delicate beach coverups with bold animal prints and high-waisted wrapped silk miniskirts in various colors.

Behind the unique idea of making women always feel wanted, dynamic, and confident, here is the Chic Icon conversation with one of the Marli Slip dresses founders, Liliya Tippetts.

What is the biggest motivation behind “love yourself” slip dresses?

Marli Dresses’ inspiration is the body in all its forms! The women wearing our pieces are those who truly own their femininity and boldness—interlacing the myriad of individualities. #Womansupportingwomen is our main goal which is to create your “favorite dress” that you could style in a variety of different ways and wear on different occasions/seasons.

Who or which things are your inspiration while creating any designs?

It’s everything around us! Created by the vision of two sisters, based in London and Monaco, Marli slip dresses combine the contrasting laid-back Riviera chic and big city cosmopolitan flair. We interlaced our different vision on “comfort” and “class,” letting our environment influences the rest.

What is fashion for you?

Fashion is an evolvement. We live, and we evolve every day, and the same goes for fashion. What was in fashion today would not be in fashion tomorrow; therefore, adapting and changing are the keys in this industry.

Today we came to a day where we have to be more cautious and look towards sustainable fashion. Our Marli slip dresses are timeless wardrobe pieces that we have adjusted over time and have added double layers that all women are comfortable wearing during any season, reducing fashion consumption.

What do you think it takes to become a successful fashion designer?

Motivation, open-mind, and creativity. However, most importantly, you need to know how to adapt to the society we live in and grasp inspiration from your surroundings, change is the key.

How do you stay updated in the fashion industry?

We strive to create items that become essentials in the wardrobe to promote the slow fashion movement. Trans-seasonal clothing is the new must-have; we must walk hand in hand with our earth and support it by being responsible and sustainable.
