Glashütte Original turns to its own horological archives for its latest creations, introducing two chronographs that reinterpret distinct chapters of 20th-century watchmaking. The Senator Chronograph draws on the refined observation watches produced in Glashütte in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, while the darker Senator Chronograph Navigator channels the unmistakable character of 1940s pilot’s watches.
The Navigator makes legibility its defining feature. Its matte-black dial is punctuated by luminous Arabic numerals, while Super-LumiNova-coated hour and minute hands ensure clarity in low-light conditions. White lacquer accents highlight the 30-minute counter and small seconds, while mushroom-shaped pushers and a tachymeter scale reinforce its functional, instrument-inspired aesthetic.
Its counterpart takes a more sophisticated approach. The Senator Chronograph pairs a silver-white grainé dial with blue-coated Roman numerals crafted from solid gold, complemented by matching blue hands. Both watches are presented in 41 mm stainless-steel cases, with the signature Panorama Date positioned at 6 o’clock.
Inside, the two models share Glashütte Original’s automatic Calibre 37-24. Equipped with a flyback function, the movement allows the chronograph to be stopped, reset and restarted with a single press—an especially practical feature for timing successive events. Visible through the sapphire-crystal caseback, the calibre features a newly developed skeletonized rotor and delivers an impressive 70-hour power reserve.
Versatility extends to the wrist, with a selection of Louisiana alligator, sand-coloured synthetic and stainless-steel bracelet options. A newly developed quick-change mechanism for the folding clasp makes switching straps effortless.
