Audemars Piguet was founded by Jules Louis Audemars and Edward Auguste Piguet, who were two ambitious watchmakers from Switzerland. In 1875, they opened their workshop in their hometown of Le Brassus, where they set to craft mechanisms that were unique in their structure. They used a variety of resources like craftsmen, dials, bracelets, and cases to start the production of their watches.
Vallée de Joux was the place of the genesis of the creation of the watches that Audemars Piguet is known for. Farmers began dedicating their time to horological crafting and, over time, started to craft watch parts like bridges, stones, pinions, and many more. Due to the family of artisanship that developed in the region towards the end of the 18th Century, some of the most complicated mechanisms were born that the brand is most proud of. The emblem of the brand is deep-rooted in the high-end skills of the craftspeople who follow the same tradition that made Audemars Piguet popular in the first place while pushing the limits of the crafts to appeal to new technologies and forward-thinking.
Today the Audemars Piguet is a center of exorbitant watchmaking, and Vallée de Joux became a place of inspiration for the many models that the brand produces. Check out the premium selection by Chic Icon of some of its models.
[Re]master01 Selfwinding Chronograph
This model can be thought of as a “remastering recording of a vintage tune worn on a wrist.” The watch contains a remastered chronograph technology, in the vein of the technology that was used during the early years of Audemars Piguet. It is covered in stainless steel and a picturesque 18 karat pink gold with two-tone aesthetics. The design of the dial increases legibility, and the self-winding chronograph with a column wheel and flyback function makes for superb contemporary use.
Haute Joaillerie Sapphire Orbe
The Sapphire Orbe will make it look like you are wearing a galaxy of gems on your wrist and will not go unnoticed by anyone. The watch combines the art of fine jewelry and horology to create a design inspired by the cues of Vallée de Joux’s landscape. The Sapphire Orbe combines elements of power and elegance to the already bold shape of the watch, complementing the fine gems on it.
We cannot afford to forget to acknowledge some of the classic models like the Classique Pocket-Watch. The model pays its tribute to the original watchmaking traditions of the brand with its crafted gold and refined decorations. The amount of detail that goes into the crafting of this watch is extremely delicate since it takes 800 hours of assembly, adjustment, and hand-finishing of all the 637 components of the model.
Millenary Frosted Gold Aventurine Dial
This ethereal model merges the aesthetic and functionality of the beloved watches of Audemars Piguet. The watch contains an elliptical case and an eccentric multi-faceted dial that reveals the watch’s escapement.
