Audemars Piguet was founded by Jules Louis Audemars and Edward Auguste Piguet, who were two ambitious watchmakers from Switzerland. In 1875, they opened their workshop in their hometown of Le Brassus, where they set to craft mechanisms that were unique in their structure. They used a variety of resources like craftsmen, dials, bracelets, and cases to start the production of their watches.
Vallée de Joux was the place of the genesis of the creation of the watches that Audemars Piguet is known for. Farmers began dedicating their time to horological crafting and, over time, started to craft watch parts like bridges, stones, pinions, and many more. Due to the family of artisanship that developed in the region towards the end of the 18th Century, some of the most complicated mechanisms were born that the brand is most proud of. The emblem of the brand is deep-rooted in the high-end skills of the craftspeople who follow the same tradition that made Audemars Piguet popular in the first place while pushing the limits of the crafts to appeal to new technologies and forward-thinking.
Today the Audemars Piguet is a center of exorbitant watchmaking, and Vallée de Joux became a place of inspiration for the many models that the brand produces. Check out the premium selection by Chic Icon of some of its models.
