Beautiful pieces that integrate sensual style and contemporary cuts- that is a special touch of the Lebanese designer George Hobeika. Dresses that accentuate a woman’s body with elegance and leaving things into imagination, mostly accompanied with a bit of sparkle.
The designer was born in Beirut, Lebanon in 1962, he was one of eight siblings. Hobeika got his talent from his mother, who had a seamstress. He helped her during his childhood as an assistant in the family’s boutique. He started to studied civil engineering in university and pursued architectural design.
The Lebanese Civil War forced him to leave the country, so he went to Paris and worked as an intern for several Parisian fashion houses, including Chanel. His experience in the boutique and his special eye when it comes to design helped him to stand up. His work in those places helped him later to build his own successful brand.
After returning from Paris, the famous designer officially opened his atelier in Beirut in 1995. His mother closed her atelier and referred all of her clients to her son. As a family, they worked together to establish a fashion label. Her boutique was the seed that paid off a world-recognized fashion house.
In 2001, Hobeika presented his first show in Paris at “Hotel K”. He has shown his couture collections every biannual Paris Couture Fashion Week since. He always has A-list guests on his front row, that gives notoriety to magazines.
The designer that is always looking to expand and share his gift in creativity. In 2010, he opened a showroom in Paris and a second production facility dedicated to his Signature and GH by Georges Hobeika lines. He operates the fashion label in Paris and from his atelier headquarters in Beirut.
The brand has official PR representation branches in Paris (in-house), Los Angeles, and Beijing. The designer has partnered with brands such as Maison Lesage, Swarovski, Maison Legeron, Jakob Schlaepfer, and Solstiss for the creation and production of the Georges Hobeika Couture line.

Spring 2017 Couture season marked the first time he was included in the calendar as an invited member of the Chambre de la Syndicate rather than a guest. One of his highlight moments was in 2012 when Miss USA Olivia Culpo was crowned Miss Universe 2012 wearing a George Hobeika gown for the final evening gown segment- a moment that many of us where amazed by the creation!
As Hobeika said in an interview “The opening of my showroom in Paris was then coupled with pursuing a presence on major international red carpets, while at the same time expanding my points of sale”. Now his art is supported by celebrities such as Jennifer López, Beyoncé, and Priyanka Chopra.
Hobeika has a strong connection to his motherland. His headquarters are still there, just as in the beginning. Everything in Lebanon is an inspiration to him. The mountains where he grow up are embodied in different designs. He uses nature to be motivated to dress women as they deserve.
He is a man that develops according to innovation. For him, the new generation is demanding higher quality fashions and designs that express an individual´s signature style. That is why when people dress one of his designs it represents a lot- almost as the garment could talk!
Top tip from the designer for party dressing? Wearing something that has a touch of sparkle or glitter with any outfit. A signature that is noticeable on the major looks he was presented on red carpets.
After all these years and many unique and luxury designs, it is clear that Hobeika is a gifted artist and designer. A man who started in the industry to help his mother has designed elements that evocate romance and modernity. Whenever a piece of him is, there is a spotlight that shines brightly.
