From its Michelin-starred restaurants to marinas filled with high-end yachts and golf courses to partying till dawn, Marbella has continued to remain matchless in Spain as the go-to destination for the wealthy set. If the Costa del Sol is seen as Europe’s Florida, then Marbella is its Miami. Since the 70’s, the Andalusian region has been renowned as a playground for the rich and famous. Yet underneath all the glamour, there is so much more to Marbella than what usually meets the eye, visitors have absolutely no reason to venture away from the area to enjoy an active, memorable and fun-filled holiday.
Timeless Historical Marbella
Known to be one of the best-preserved old towns of Andalucía it’s a maze of labyrinthine streets that are laid with red tiles and exceptional paving. The buildings are all whitewashed and topped with terracotta roofs, and many date back to the renaissance. Some are warped in bougainvillea; in fact, the entire area is decked with brightly coloured flowers. It is a small but charming neighbourhood ideal to walk while slowly discovering the hidden secrets of this place as a historical and cultural heritage, such as the wonderful Museo del Grabado, declared of Heritage of Cultural Interest, the beautiful Iglesia de la Encarnación located a few meters from the walls of the Castle and the popular Plaza de los Naranjos.
Like a tressure waiting to be discovered, hidden down an alley in the oldest part of Marbella is the Museo del Grabado, the only museum devoted to engraving in Spain. The venue is part of the experience; it’s a 16th century Moorish style palace built for the naval commander Alonso de Bazán, which he bequeathed to the city as a hospital for the poor. The collection also holds 4,000 engravings, etchings, lithographs and other pieces of graphic design by some of Spain’s most well-known artists. Piccaso, Chillida and Dali all have works showcased here.
On the Top of Marbella
Wherever you are in Marbella, you simply can’t afford to miss this ominous peak. La Concha is a habitant to the Sierra Blanca coastal range and tops above 12000 metres. The moment you are at the top, you will not only be presented with a different scene, where the valleys shelter tall pine and oak trees. You can see beyond Marbella, to the Atlas Mountains in Morocco, the walk lasting for about four hours.

Marbella is known for its great gourmet experiences. If at some point you get tired of delicious Spanish food there are a plenty of amazing Japanese restaurants. One of our favourites is Nobu by the Beach. This new outdoor dining area offers breath-taking views of the Golden Mile and the opportunity to indulge in Nobu cuisine during the day. They offer the freshest seafood, our favourite one is the famous Spanish tuna sashimi called o-toro which is a tuna belly, the most tender and delicious part of the fish. Sadly, Nobu by the Beach is open during the high season only.
If you are looking for the best beach restaurant, look no more than El Chiringuito. Unwind on an ocean side sun lounger and watch the sunset while an in-house DJ gives the best vibes of spectacular Marbella. After sunset cocktails at El Chiringuito go for a chic dinner at SUPPERCLUB which is almost next door. It is considered as the best dinner spot in the city that provides with a great gourmet experience and the best show in the city.
