His journey to become a fantastic designer started in Beirut, drawing inspiration from Christian Dior, Balmain and Balenciaga, and then pouring his own ideas and creativity onto it and creating fabulous fashion illustrations. This was when he was approached by his first client, his sister’s friend who requested Murad to design a dress that she could wear for her engagement. The result ended with the soon to be bride to get so amused and this success was enough for Murad to turn his hobby into something much more. This led Murad to pursue studying fashion design in Paris, France soon after graduating from high school.
Zuhair Murad made his first debut appearance in 1999 with his collection on Roman catwalk platforms and acquired a place in the Italian almanac. This was just the beginning of his many great accomplishments that he would achieve over the years in the industry.
Murad unlocked his path to success in in 1997 when he opened his first atelier in Beirut, creating luxury garments for a selective private clientele which paved the way for him to flaunt his first couture collection during the “Haute Couture Week” in Paris, France just four years later he débuted his first “Ready-to-Wear” collection in 2005.
This made him a true sensation in the fashion industry and enabled him to gain attention worldwide, open a 11-storey fashion house in Beirut and a lavish design studio in Paris. Not to mention, Murad has over 100 employees who consistently contribute in the meticulous process of creating beautiful garments, from the conceptualization phase all the way up to bringing the designs to life. He has also opened his collections to various fashion shows all around the world including fashion capitals.
The reason why Murad’s collections have proven time and time again to be truly magical is because of the attention to detail and craftsmanship of each piece in his collections. Each of the garments pays close attention to the elaborate beading and embellishments along with embroidery, designed strategically to create the most flattering attire that upon wearing would truly make you feel like a sophisticated and elegant princess.
His signature styles in gown include intricate beadwork, plunging necklines, flowy skirts, lace overlays, sheer fabrics and capes which brings forth a romantic, feminine and dreamlike evening gowns fit for any fancy occasion. One of Murad’s extraordinary works is his Bridal Collections, designed so beautiful with so much soul to make a bride feel like the absolute queen on her very special day. Each of the gowns are designed to have one or both, traditional and modern aspects into the gown with hints of bling and glamour. This expanded his collections to be more than just evening gowns.
One of his most memorable works when it comes to bridal wear is when he designed a stunning and captivating custom couture gown for actress Sofia Vergara’s star studded wedding. The mermaid neckline strapless gown was made with intricate white lace and with detailing using pearl, crystals and sequins. The gown also featured pearl beaded belt and a full delicate hand embroidered skirt that was detachable for a 2 in 1 look.
Murad’s pieces are all about bringing forth femininity, fantasy, sensuality and glamour, with intention of placing emphasis on the natural curvature of a woman’s body.
