Chezz Gerdi is one of the best spots Formentera has to offer, and is the perfect place to watch the sunset after exploring Formentera’s glorious beaches. This popular chiringuito is a mix of Formentera and Italian style and is a fabulous multi-level bar and restaurant concept that will surely catch your eye. Sitting at the coastal tip of Es Pujlos beach with spectacular views out to the sea, Chezz Gerdi is soaked in white and features decked floors plus a lovely rooftop terrace overlooking Formentera’s magical coastline combined with an exceptional laid back atmosphere. With an interior and exterior entrance, the spot is completed with a boutique and space for having cocktails and snacks. Chezz Gerdi has a heart and soul, and quickly draws visitors in with its quirky touches & designs of Fiat 500 car seats, wooden fish sculptures, its famous converted bright red VW camper van and secret chill-out areas and terraces with live jazz on every Fridays and Sundays. The setting is out in the open, with the waves breaking on the shore, the light dimming slowly as music plays, and candles shining on the tables creating a beautiful romantic atmosphere. The bar prides itself on that unique and magnificent atmosphere and also has its own bodega with one of the most complete wineries in Formentera! (Italian, Spanish, French wines, etc.) 

Tourists and exclusive VIP’s/Celebrities can be found hanging out here, drinking cocktails, chatting or watching the tremendous spectacle created as the sun sets over the water. 

The Chef’s at the restaurant have created a delicious Mediterranean menu that takes the finest of local Spanish and Italian produce, and offers delicious blends of Mediterranean flavors exclusively offering quality meat, fresh fish and seafood, gorgeous pizzas, a great sushi and raw selection and more. All seasoned with intense Mediterranean light and the sound of the sea. Opened from March to January (in December only on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays), the venue also offers (including its extended wine list) sangrias and amazing cocktails menu that is completed with a whole range of ‘natural cocktails’ and fresh juices perfect for summer. With the outstanding menu, friendly service and extraordinary entertainment, you’re in for a night to remember.

We had the privilege to have a conversation with the GM of Chezz Gerdi, Claudio Passiatore, and ask a few questions about this stunning space in the heart of the Mediterranean. 

-Tell us a little bit about Chezz Gerdi and how is it so sensational and famous in Formentera!

Chezz Gerdi opened in 2009 and since its first day it has been successful, but surely the notoriety started later, since 2016 when we added a Volkswagen van, that is a typical symbol of the hippie culture. Since then our logo has been the Van and everyone has come to take souvenir photos. The van has become to Formentera what the coliseum is to Rome. 

-What can people think of experiencing while visiting Chezz Gerdi for the first time?

When people arrive at Chezz Gerdi they feel at home, and they must be prepared to live an oasis of experiences, enjoy hammocks, live music, cocktails and much more. All this at the sea level. The first time at Chezz Gerdi will be a chilling time from wherever you want to see it, complemented with the experience of a beach club, where we promise to exceed your expectations. Chezz Gerdi offers a unique and incomparable environment to create the most memorable day of your lives that will be remembered forever. The place offers an incredible experience through a wonderful scenery and good energy in order to capture the senses. 

-How would you describe the gastronomy and service offered at Chezz Gerdi?

The gastronomy at Chezz Gerdi combines the most characteristic elements of Mediterranean cuisine, combining tradition and creativity in a mix of international dishes. You can design the menu as it suits your taste and needs.

-What are the most famous signature dishes at the restaurant?

The most famous dishes at the restaurant are sushi, raw, pasta with lobster, pizza and of course the best fish. 

-How does the dream wedding look like in Chezz Gerdi?
