Probably the best petite boutique hotel in the city…

Known as the Venice of the North Amsterdam is a city which is on every traveler’s bucket list. With so much to offer to almost every type of traveler, it is hard to say no to this city. With almost 7 million people visiting it every year it is one of Europe’s most widely traveled to destinations.

With such a wide variety of people coming into the city on a daily basis obviously, it has to offer all types of accommodations to its visitors.

From 5 star hotels with big chain names to small luxury boutique hotels, Amsterdam has accommodations to fit every type of taste.

Coming to our boutique hotel the Kamer 01 has won several awards over the years from multiple organizations including TripAdvisor. It has also won the award for the best boutique hotel in the Netherlands for 2017. Built in the 16th century to be precise 1585 Kamer 01 is ideally situated in the canal district on the idyllic Singel Canal. The area is designated A UNESCO world heritage sight making it a protected area.

Comprising of 3 unique living areas this hotel is as boutique it can get.

The original antique spiral staircase which acts as the spine of the house is used to access all the rooms from the ground floor. Including the terrace.

Coming to the 3 absolutely unique and delightful rooms that make up the house.

The Blue Room

This room is the highest room the hotel offers and has the best views of the canal. With 18th century woodwork which is most enjoyed by lying down on the contemporary round bed. The room also has large windows which makes the entire room well lit and very airy.

The Red Room

If you are in for some romance this is the room for you. The bright red room is just designed to be cozy and romantic. With lots of pillows and space, this room has been designed to snuggle in.

The Green Suite

With street-level views of the canal, this is the biggest room that Kamer 01 has on offer. Various shades of green adorn this room. Green instantly calms and soothes you down. It also has a separate living room and dining room. The furniture is a balanced mix of antiques and contemporary pieces.

The house also has a rooftop which can be accessed via a ladder at the end of the spiral staircase. This rooftop is a perfect place to unwind when the sun is out. Read a book, have a drink or just take a nap overlooking one of the most beautiful cities in the world.

I know you are imagining yourself in Kamer 01 right now thinking of which room you would choose to live in, however I haven’t even gotten to the best parts of the stay yet.

Firstly, there is a champagne breakfast. This is now a truly delightful experience. Comprising of a 5-course meal this is probably the best way to start your day. The entire breakfast is made of locally sourced fresh organic produce. With actual silverware and cutlery for every course, this is an experience a true gourmand craves for.

Secondly are the hosts. Peter and Wolter bought the house and rebuilt it into what it is today. Peter is a designer and has a rich history in interior design and various other design projects. Peter has designed many things inside Kamer 01 including the breakfasts plates. Wolter has worked in the hotel industry for several years including many big name 5 star hotels.

They together redefine what service is. Always ready to help they are role-models for how hosts should be.

Kamer 01 is the perfect place for someone who enjoys discerning holidays. It truly makes you feel part of the rich culture, history, and art that this Dutch city has to offer you. It will make you feel modern and at the same time feel part of the Dutch Golden Age that this city arose from.
