Kyoto Kitcho Arashiyama is a national cuisine restaurant with a built-in Japanese tea house style. The restaurant is located in Arashiyama, the most beautiful area of Kyoto, Japan, and is supposed to be one of the most appealing and unforgettable districts in the western outskirts of the city. It is one of the best places to enjoy the views of Japan’s nature. The territory is filled with a variety of landscapes together with magnificent Buddhist and Shinto temples. One can enjoy the beauty of Otagi Nenbutsu-ji with old moss-covered statues and Tendryu-ji. There is also an amazing Sagano bamboo grove, a truly fascinating place that is worth seeing right after visiting the restaurant. But you better allocate a separate day to wander around the park, since its territory is vast and you can walk there all day long.

History and features of the restaurant

The restaurant dates back to 1948 when it was founded by Kyoto Kitcho Co., Ltd. The company acquired ownership of a townhouse in Arak, which was eventually renovated into a restaurant. In 1949, the area of the restaurant was increased by the attachment of the Kouraibashi residence. This restaurant has only seven private rooms, the area of the smallest is 6.6 square meters, the largest is 41.4. The room can be booked by a company of 2 people or more. The large halls offer amazing views of the beautiful garden, the small halls face the mountains. This is done for the purpose of visitors’ contemplation of different seasons and their display in nature.

To this day, this restaurant reflects the great Japanese culture with its fine cuisine and no less refined and famous tea ceremonies that are held in accordance with ancient traditions. The Japanese tea ceremony in Japan itself is called the Way of Tea – this is a cultural tradition in Japan. The ceremony is a solemn tea party with the use of the famous matcha powder tea. The tradition is called “chado” and is performed in the traditional Japanese manner – “temoyu.” Tea ceremonies became popular during the time of Zen Buddhism, this ceremony was used in the practice of meditation by monks who used it to achieve higher matters. In addition to delicious meals, Kyoto Kitcho Arashiyama can offer to its guests can enjoy wine tasting, and an entertainment program of geisha students.

The natural taste of Kyoto

Kyoto Kitcho Arashiyama is considered one of the most expensive in terms of the size of the average check. The average check in this restaurant is 43-54 thousand yen ($385 – $ 500). And this is the reason why! The chef of this restaurant, Kunio Tokuoka, is a third-generation chef. He prepares dishes from seasonal products that always surprise guests with their presentation and a set of flavors. And this is not easy, the founder of the company Teiishi Yuki believes that with the proper ingenuity, you can prepare the most delicious dish from ordinary seasonal products. This principle was taken from the traditional Kyoto cuisine of kaiseki. The concept of this kitchen assumes a variety of dishes prepared from seasonal products. As a rule, guests choose only the budget of the dinner, leaving the choice of dishes to the chef.
