The first thing I noticed on the drive to Nautical Hotel was how dramatically the landscape changed. Leaving the airport behind, we followed winding mountain roads through southwestern Turkey, with pine forests, rugged cliffs, and glimpses of turquoise water appearing around every bend. An hour and a half later, we arrived in Faralya, a place where the mountains seem to tumble straight into the sea. I had visited beautiful corners of Turkey before, but this stretch of the Lycian coast felt particularly wild, almost cinematic.

Perched on a cliff overlooking the Mediterranean, Nautical Hotel is a destination for those who want to experience this landscape rather than simply admire it from a distance.
A hideaway between the mountains and the sea
The property feels wonderfully integrated into its surroundings. Stone architecture, mature trees and an extraordinary garden create a sense of privacy, while the sea remains a constant presence. I particularly loved wandering through the greenery, discovering quiet corners framed by vegetation and glimpses of blue beyond the trees.

We stayed in a spacious duplex villa, perfectly comfortable for two, with our own swimming pool and beautiful sea views. It was the kind of accommodation that made staying in feel just as appealing as going out. Mornings began slowly, and afternoons naturally gravitated towards the pool, where the surrounding mountains provided a spectacular backdrop.

Nautical offers several accommodation options, including Villas and Stone Houses, allowing guests to choose their preferred balance of privacy and comfort. Yet the real luxury here is the feeling of being immersed in nature, with the landscape taking precedence over everything else.
The beachside
The hotel’s beach was one of the highlights of my stay. Set beneath dramatic cliffs, it is an extraordinary place, with rugged rock formations meeting remarkably clear turquoise water. I have seen many beautiful beaches along the Turkish coast, but this one genuinely stands out.

There is something special about swimming here. The cliffs rise behind you, the water shifts between shades of emerald and deep blue, and the coastline feels wonderfully untouched. It is the sort of beach where a quick dip can easily turn into several hours spent swimming, sunbathing, and doing absolutely nothing.

The photogenic infinity pool and beachside lunch menu are another reason to linger. Rather than interrupting a perfect beach day to return to the main hotel, you can enjoy a leisurely meal before heading back to the water.
Dining above the Mediterranean
Breakfast at Nautical is a ritual worth savouring. The traditional Turkish spread, enjoyed overlooking the sea, is a lovely introduction to the day. There is no need to rush: sit down, enjoy your Turkish coffee, explore the dishes and take in the magnificent scenery.

The restaurant is equally appealing, particularly for its Mediterranean-inspired cuisine and spectacular setting. But if I could recommend just one experience, it would be sunset drinks.

Find a table overlooking the water in the late afternoon and stay as the light begins to change. The sea turns golden, the cliffs darken into silhouettes, and the sky fills with warm shades of pink and orange. For me, this is the most beautiful sunset setting in the Faralya and Fethiye area. The view unfolds directly in front of you, making even a simple drink feel like an occasion.
Beyond the sun loungers
Faralya and Lycian Way reward curiosity, and I would highly recommend exploring some of the hotel’s activities. Hiking along sections of the Lycian Way is a particularly memorable experience, revealing mountain trails, rugged terrain and breathtaking coastal panoramas. Nature lovers will find plenty to appreciate here, from the fragrant pine forests to the dramatic geological formations.

Nautical also offers yoga sessions, providing a peaceful way to begin the morning. Back at the property, a playroom with billiards and chess offers an alternative for quieter afternoons.

One of the most magical experiences was a private sunset boat tour arranged by the hotel, taking us along the coastline’s beautiful secluded coves and to the enchanting Butterfly Valley. Watching the sun slowly descend over the water, surrounded by dramatic cliffs and the changing colours of the sea, was an unforgettable experience — the kind of moment that makes a stay truly special.

One of my favourite details was the evening bonfire. Gathering around the flames, toasting snacks and enjoying the night air creates a wonderfully relaxed atmosphere. It is a simple pleasure, but one that feels especially fitting in a place where nature sets the rhythm of the day.
Make time for Perdue and Rups
Another advantage of staying at Nautical is the opportunity to enjoy experiences at Rups Beach Club and Perdue hotel that belong to the same group Soulsetters. Enjoy Perdue’s beach, yoga sessions and open-air cinema evenings. Watching a film beneath the night sky is a lovely change of pace, although I would recommend checking the programme during your visit.

For something livelier, head to Rups, a popular beach club in the Faralya area. It offers a different atmosphere for a day by the sea and makes a great addition to a stay otherwise defined by tranquillity.
The final word
Nautical Hotel is a place I would recommend to anyone seeking a genuine connection with nature without sacrificing comfort. Come for the extraordinary beach, stay for the sunsets, and allow yourself time to discover the beauty of the Lycian coast.

What makes this hotel memorable is not one particular amenity, but the combination of its dramatic setting, private-pool accommodation, beautiful gardens and unhurried atmosphere. It invites you to trade a packed itinerary for long swims, leisurely breakfasts and evenings around a fire.

And whatever else you do, make sure you are there for sunset. Some views are worth travelling for, and this is certainly one of them.
