Racing DNA of the New Koenigsegg CCGT1

The 70-car limited edition transforms the legacy of a race car that never competed into Koenigsegg’s most track-focused road-legal model yet.

Some automotive legends are built on victories. Others become icons because of what might have been. The new Koenigsegg CCGT1 belongs to the latter category. Revealed during Monterey Car Week, the limited-edition hypercar pays homage to the Swedish marque’s original CCGT GT1 project—a racing machine completed but never entered competition after FIA regulations changed.

Rather than recreate the original, Koenigsegg has translated its spirit into a road car based on the CC850. Only 70 examples will be produced, and every one has already been sold.

At the heart of the CCGT1 is a twin-turbocharged V8 producing 1,280 hp on pump fuel and 1,600 hp on E85 biofuel. Power is sent to the rear wheels through Koenigsegg’s Light Speed Transmission. Buyers can choose a sequential shifter or the optional Engage Shift System, combining a gated six-speed manual with nine-speed automatic functionality.

Aerodynamics are central to the car’s character. Almost every exterior panel has been redesigned to improve cooling and generate downforce, including a large front splitter, sculpted underfloor and active rear wing. At 250 km/h, the CCGT1 can generate up to 800 kg of downforce, serious circuit capability. The first factory-developed track package in Koenigsegg’s history pushes that philosophy further. It adds a carbon roll cage, HANS-compatible racing seats, fire suppression, track suspension and brakes, air jacks, a race exhaust and dedicated wheels with track tyres. The package can be installed or removed by a Koenigsegg Certified Dealer, while owners gain access to dedicated CCGT1 track days with factory support.Visually, the CCGT1 remains faithful to its inspiration while embracing contemporary engineering. Buyers can specify Ghost Fibre, a proprietary crystal-white carbon-and-fibre composite developed from the material introduced on the 2009 Trevita.

With its combination of exclusivity, extreme performance and a story rooted in motorsport, the CCGT1 is more than another hypercar. It is Koenigsegg turning an unfinished racing chapter into a collectible designed for both road and circuit.
