Those who have stayed up to date with the current trend of NFTs and the decentralized web have likely discovered or researched the narrative behind collecting specialized non-fungible tokens. Some of the most popular collections have been Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC), CryptoPunks, and Invisible Friends, and these digitalized works of art have garnered bids of hundreds of thousands of dollars (or over 100 ETH). Certain clubs offer members invitations to private events, early-release items, and perhaps most importantly – entrance into an exclusive ownership community. The primary mode of exchange for the blockchain is a cryptocurrency; Ethereum being the most popular, followed by Solana and Bitcoin due to their adaptability to platforms and low gas fees. Now Oceanco introduces their own Superyacht NFTs.

Numerous multinational corporations and independent firms have ventured into the world of NFTs and Web3 to broaden their customer base and diversify their assets. Luxury giants Dolce & Gabbana and Burberry were the first movers in the industry and Italian auto manufacturer Lamborghini has also jumped at the bit and partnered with an undisclosed artist to create an NFT collection based on their joint effort with the ISS to send carbon-fiber materials into space. Other luxury firms including Jacob & Co., Prada, and Gucci have also launched in the Metaverse and we expect to see an uptick in businesses as the space becomes more regulated and available.

Esquel superyacht

Dutch-original luxury custom yacht makers Oceanco have recently surfaced in the Web3 space with their collection of Superyacht NFTs. The unique digital vessels are buoyed by acclaimed design firm Bozca Design by Timur Bozca and based on the collaborative superyacht concept Esquel developed by the two companies in 2019. “Anchored on the Ethereum blockchain,” the project promises invitations to exclusive superyacht parties and limited drops of super toys and accessories to boost the desirability of your personalized NFT. Pre-registration is currently available for those interested.

The philosophy behind the collection has been remarked by the company as “making the exclusive more inclusive” and emphasizes “fun and engagement” as an underlying theme for the campaign. Oceanco chairman has also noted the importance of pushing boundaries within the industry and shifting away from yacht ownership as a status symbol.

Oceanco is the first superyacht builder to embark on this decentralized journey, and their releases are sure to become collector’s items in the future. Plus – a portion of revenues from each non-fungible token will support charities that protect the ocean!
