We met the owner Charlie Charbel to get to know more details about his gorgeous property.
How did you come up with an idea to open Suites of the Gods?
I found this place 25 years ago. I really enjoyed coming here and just watch the view. The whole area is an old winery which was abandoned back then. This feeling from the first moment came over me, the respect of what has been created. A really unique place. At first I managed to own the old winery and I turned the building into a cave spa, preserving its form. The ambience and the divine feeling from this experience captured my own existence. I was trying to spend as much time as I could in this place. That’s how I got the idea of opening Suites of the Gods.
What kind of authentic experience your guests receive while staying in your hotel?
It is a unique experience staying into a cave. Imagine how rare is to stay in a cave that used to be a tank full of wine, combined with the stunning view of the caldera cliff next to the volcano over the sea! Enjoy the magical sunset of Santorini, swimming in the infinity pool, having a signature cocktail at your hand. What can beat that?
Traditional dishes are served in our restaurant, offering to our guest the opportunity to meet Santorinis’ exceptional flavors & wines.
We have managed to merge the old winery with the spa, crafting our Spa of the Gods. The only place in the world where you can have a therapy right next to your beloved one, inside a tank of wine. One hundred years old tools and machines which were used when the winery was operating are exhibited in every inch of this unique place.
Tell us the story behind the name Suites of the Gods!
Like I told you, this is a unique place. Every time I visited this area, I felt a divine feeling coming all over me. I thought that Gods should have been living here. So I decided to name the Suites from the names of the Greek Gods who lived in the mount Olympus. So, Suites of the Gods is the residence of the Gods and each suite is dedicated to each one of them!
What’s your favorite part about Santorini?
Santorini is famous worldwide for its stunning views, colorful sunset & the Caldera cliff with the volcano. Each & every guest is amazed by all that. I have seen many magical sunsets all over the years. I have climbed the volcano & the caldera cliff. Nothing is compared with the inner fulfillment and inner peace that it gives you. This magical energy of this island is really stunning. I have travelled a lot and I have been to many places around the world. Santorini makes my heart beat faster and at the same time relaxes me. I found peace. In conclusion, I would say that my favorite part about Santorini is that makes me wonder, makes me happy. Things that you can’t see totally capture yourself. I love that.
What surprises have you prepared for your visitors next summer?
An authentic experience is being prepared for our visitors. Theme nights, live music with guitar, saxophone & harp have already been arranged all over next season. Traditional & innovative techniques have been added to our variety of spa therapies. Colorful sunsets and tasteful evenings are here to overwhelm our visitors. Exquisite dishes & signature cocktails are crafted right this moment, preparing a magical summer at Suites of the Gods!
