In November 2025, Dubai welcomes a rare invitation into the inner world of Van Cleef & Arpels —a maison for which time has always been less a measure than a muse. As part of Dubai Watch Week, the brand unveils an immersive exhibition dedicated to its watchmaking savoir-faire, offering the public an intimate look at the mechanics, artistry, and quiet magic that define its horological universe.
Stepping inside feels like entering a dream sketched in gold leaf. The scenography unfolds as a journey: a cabinet of curiosities lined with archival documents and patrimonial pieces anchors the narrative, while the heart of the space—four fully operating watchmaking benches—reveals the living expertise behind the Maison’s creations. Here, craftsmen demonstrate the meticulous gestures that transform precious materials into poetry, bridging Parisian imagination with Genevan precision.
Around this core, a series of alcoves evokes the signature worlds that have shaped Van Cleef & Arpels’ identity: ballerinas captured mid-movement, luminous fairies frozen in mid-flight, poetic constellations charting the heavens, tender love stories, and the ever-enchanted beauty of nature. Each dial becomes a miniature stage; each watch, a moment suspended.

“For us, watchmaking is an immersion into emotion and contemplation,” notes Catherine Renier, President and CEO of Van Cleef & Arpels. The exhibition brings this philosophy into sharp focus. At the Maison, every watch begins as a creative vision rendered in a delicate gouache. From there, the journey unfolds through years of development—an orchestration of technical prowess and métiers d’art. Enamellers, engravers, lapidaries, stone-setters and watchmakers contribute their mastery to bring the narrative to life.

This commitment to storytelling is especially evident in the Poetic Complications collection—first introduced in 2006 and now celebrated as one of the Maison’s most recognizable signatures. Within this collection, time becomes kinetic theatre. Retrograde movements, rotating discs and planetarium modules infuse playfulness into technical rigor, while on-demand animations allow scenes to be replayed at will, like cherished memories returning.
True to the spirit of Dubai Watch Week—founded in 2015 by Ahmed Seddiqi to highlight creativity, community, and horological innovation—Van Cleef & Arpels’ installation is not merely an exhibition. It is an invitation to slow down, to look closer, and to rediscover time as something beautifully, deliberately human.
